At ABB Electrification - Smart Power Division, we are driving the global transition toward a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy future. We are looking for a Global Application Engineer with proven experience in power conversion systems, including inverters, rectifiers, and DC-DC converters, to support our growth in the renewable energy, hydrogen, and energy storage segments – with a focus on the Chinese market. Working closely with customers, you’ll help design and promote ABB portfolio of products and solutions that meet the growing demand for high performance, reliability, and sustainability in the evolving energy landscape. You’ll be at the forefront of experiencing and solving the electrification challenges of the future - directly alongside our customers.
Your responsibilities

• Act as the technical voice of market for power conversion applications in solar, energy storage, and hydrogen segments and provide market feedback back to the internal stakeholders
• Validate, develop and promote applications in solar, energy storage and hydrogen which involve ABB low voltage portfolio of products, systems and solutions.
• Define ABB and competitive landscape, monitor market trends in the above applications and recommend adjustments for the long and mid-term strategy
• Support customers to identify the best solutions for their projects
• Participate in the local standardization committee in China

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and preferably 5 years of experience in energy storage, green hydrogen, solar
• Experience in power conversion systems such as inverters, rectifiers and DC-DC converters and battery protection and knowledge of Direct Current applications
• Knowledge of green hydrogen and fuel cells technology is considered a plus
• Technical understanding and willingness to learn and continuously acquire new competences.
• Agile mindset and preferable experience in an agile working context
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Negotiation skills, market knowledge, leadership skills, social skills complete the profile
