Role Purpose
Lead the development and launch of new products tailored for the Chinese and Asian market, ensuring speed, customer relevance, and commercial success. This role bridges between R&D, sales, and HQ,
driving execution excellence while strengthening local autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
● Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Translate customer and market insights (Shanghai trading, key accounts, domestic competitors) into a clear product roadmap.
- Prioritize product developments that maximize growth and margin in China.
● Execution & Speed
- Lead cross-functional product development projects from concept to market launch.
- Implement agile, milestone-driven processes to reduce time-to-market.
● Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and lead a small, high-performing product development squad.
- Being active part in the? R&D China (Zhuhai/DG) and global HQ to ensure alignment without losing local speed.
● Market & Customer Interface
- Partner with Shanghai ( product management/Sales) to engage top customers in pilot projects and product validation.
- Benchmark competitors to ensure competitive pricing, features, and speed.
Candidate Characteristics
● Experience:
- 10–15 years in product development, product management, or engineering leadership in the Small Home Appliances (coffee machines, robotic vacuums) or Consumer
Electronics, or closely related manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of launching products in China at speed.
- Exposure to both multinational environments (process, governance) and domestic competitors (speed, pragmatism).
● Skills:
- Strong project management and execution discipline.
- Commercial mindset: understands P&L, pricing, and margin drivers.
- Technical literacy in fittings/mechanical components (not necessarily a PhD engineer, but credible with engineers).
- Excellent communication in Mandarin and good English (to interact with HQ).
● Personal Qualities:
- Ambitious and hands-on, not afraid to challenge slow processes.
- Culturally agile: can balance German HQ’s structure with Chinese market urgency.
- Collaborative but decisive — knows when to align, when to push through.
