Solution Architect

JOB SUMMARY
• Responsible for the end-to-end solution design, alignment, and governance of IT applications and technology solutions to support business initiatives in mainland China.
• Close collaboration with business stakeholders, solution delivery teams, infrastructure and security architects, and external technology partners to ensure that IT solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles and regional regulations.
• Play a key role in gathering and analyzing functional and non-functional requirements, assessing existing solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., data localization, cybersecurity laws), and proposing fit-for-purpose solution architectures that enable operational efficiency and digital transformation.
• Involves governing solution design standards, ensuring integration consistency, and driving innovation to enhance customer experience, improve business processes, and support strategic IT roadmaps.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
• Degree holder or Post-Graduate qualification in IT-related disciplines
• Possess more than 10 Years of experience in solution architecture development and governance.
• Have demonstrated capability in assessing and implementing new technologies and solutions for both on-premise and public cloud
• Familiarity with mainland China-specific regulatory requirements and cultural nuances, particularly in industries such as retail, customer engagement, and events.
• Have demonstrated capability in designing long term architectural roadmaps, delivering the planned state architecture.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies.
• Must be able to influence, advise and present to all levels of the organisation and externally.

• Fluency in the written and spoken English language

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Solution Architecture & Design
• Expertise in enterprise application design, system integration, and solution architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with API design, RESTful services, Pub/Sub, GraphQL, and API Gateway solutions.
• Proficiency in middleware and integration platforms, such as Apache Kafka, Kong API, Solace.
Software Development & Engineering
• Hands-on experience with enterprise application development using programming languages such as Java, Python, and JavaScript (Node.js, React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Knowledge of mobile app development, including native iOS/Android, Flutter, React Native, and WeChat Mini-Programs.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps).
Cloud & Data Technologies
• Strong understanding of cloud-native application development and serverless computing on platforms like AWS, Azure, and Tencent Cloud.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with database technologies, including SQL (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience in data modeling, business intelligence, and analytics platforms.
Compliance & Security
• Understanding of China-specific IT regulations, including data privacy laws, cybersecurity regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
• Experience in application security best practices, such as OWASP, encryption, and secure coding techniques.
Other Technical Skills
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) is a plus.
• Ability to compile business cases demonstrating the value of technology solutions in terms of revenue increase, cost reduction, and improved customer experience.
• Strong knowledge of business process modeling (BPMN, UML) and enterprise workflow automation.
