We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Data Manager.
The Opportunity:
The role will be supporting the department to drive data strategy to ensure
- Data are managed and controlled
- Data becomes a key asset to the bank
- The bank moves to a data driven organization
- Regulatory demands on data are satisfied
What you’ll do:
- Implement data governance, data privacy and information lifecycle management initiatives focusing on policy implementation, regulatory change and risk minimization.
- Work closely with 2LoD and Business/Function teams to ensure data governance/control procedures are developed and maintained, translating group policy and standards into operational procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance to Business/Function teams on control implementation, execution, monitoring, and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s internal policies/procedures.
- Partner closely with Data and Analytics Office counterparts at the HSBC Group / Region level, sharing best practices to enhance the effectiveness of our data strategy initiatives.
- Be responsible for driving and leading data risk management meetings as part of data governance.
- Align with Group and Regional DAO data governance teams to ensure a thorough understanding of the data risk landscape and governance approach.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- University degree in related disciplines, including Data Governance, Information Security,Information Systems Management, Data Privacy Law, Enterprise Risk Management, Data Science, Statistics, with a focus on data lifecycle, privacy control and risk oversight expertise.
- 3-5 years’ experience in financial services industry with background in data privacy, data management and risks and controls management preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation.
- Good understanding of Hong Kong data privacy laws, information lifecycle management, data management, and operational risk management framework.
- Attention to detail combined with a strong delivery focus and the ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.
- Awareness of data governance, Data Privacy/ Information Lifecycle Management trends and best practices within the banking industry.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, with experience working with stakeholders at different levels.
- Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective delivery in a changing work environment.
- Ability to embrace change and overcome challenges, demonstrate a strong desire to learn, and work in an Agile environment.
