主要职责：
The key responsibilities of a Cohort based Learning Assistant may include all or a combination of any of the following activities although the list below in not exhaustive and can change in response to the school’s evolving needs:
• Assist and support teachers in the implementation of impactful teaching and learning programmes that are consistent with the school’s curriculum, policies and educational philosophy.
• Assist teachers in the preparation of resources to enhance student support of learning as advised by the Cohort leader; ensuring most time supporting learning via engagement with students
• Anticipate needs for lessons where possible: eg placing materials on desks, preparing snacks, attending to the distribution of materials and set up on equipment
• Assist students as they enter the school, welcoming and helping them to prepare for the school day; eg changing reading books, storage of personal belongings
• Support Cohort Leaders with the completion of clerical tasks when and as required; including liaison with teaching and learning assistants responsible for resource management
• Support the cover of classes, dependent upon level of expertise and teacher training and under guidance from Heads of Department and/or the Deputy
• Plan ahead, meet deadlines, prioritise workloads, remain connected to and responsive to school messages and demonstrate agility to adapt to changed priorities
• Be prompt for lessons and be present in classrooms unless specially directed by the Cohort Leader or assigned teacher to complete activities outside of the classroom or taking a timetabled break
• Work as a team member to offer insights, perspectives and creative ideas while also ensuring that tasks are shared and completed with others
• Demonstrate care and support for students through positive interactions in a variety of settings and model effective approaches to behavioral assistance
• Assist teachers in providing for the physical, social, cultural and emotional well-being and physical safety of student's whilst at school and school related events
• Participate actively and thoughtfully in timetabled and non-timetabled activities: eg Physical education carnivals, residential trips, field trips, open days and admissions events
• Demonstrate initiative and support the direction of the Cohort Leader and or assigned classroom teacher, demonstrating the ability to contribute thoughtfully as a member of a professional learning community
• Maintain professional boundaries with parents and guardians by answering questions only regarding routines and activities. All student quires regarding behavior, academic achievement and social and emotional well-being must be referred to the relevant class teacher.
• Treat any information about students, their families, staff, school matters and the like with the strictest of confidence.
• Carry out timetabled yard duties remaining proactive supervision, intervening where needed and responding positively to students.
• Attend and actively participate in learning opportunities for Cohort based Learning Assistants and educators in general.
• Conduct personal business, including the taking and making of phone calls and checking of messages out of scheduled class and duty times unless in times of emergency
• Work under the guidelines from cohort leaders and with students on displays in the shared learning areas; ensuring the physical environment is aesthetically pleasing and reflective of student learning; noting this is a shared responsibility with teachers and not left only to Cohort based Learning Assistants
• Assist with the supervision of ‘late supervision’ as an additional responsibility for which staff may be subject to additional payment
• Support and lead activities within the schools Co Curricular programme
• Act in a professional manner at all times, upholding the school’s Staff Handbook and adhering to school policy and processes
