Design Engineer

Educational Background
Mechanical or electrical Engineering degree
Good understanding of project management
Ability to manage the 3D mechanical design process, DFM and Design Reviews.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as CAD design engineer.
Technical Skills
Create and manage designs in a 3D CAD environment
Import and process 3D models and 2D designs
Making component drawings for suppliers and customer drawings
Iterative development of molded parts
know Canoe
Language Skills
Fluent in English (written and spoken). German and/or French are assets
IT Skills
Version control software SVN
Good working knowledge of office software
Experience in managing BOM (bill-of-materials) in SAP Material Master, and SAP EasyDMS
Experience with automotive EDI systems is a strength
Practical and recent experience in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD and CATIA are musts, NX or Creos are considered added strengths)
Soft Skills
Ability to manage the design process, perform DFM, D2Cost and design reviews with other stakeholders.
Maintain a clean desk policy
Leads all design aspects of the internal project from startup phase to final release (and launch if applicable).
Manage the BOM and document the manufacturing requirements in a router with associated drawings and specifications, in close collaboration with the System Engineers.
Ordering of technical documentation, new materials and new products which may help the current development activities.
Request and lead the necessary design reviews.
Gather, analyze and amend specifications and procedures.
Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that the application development meets all component performance, quality and manufacturing requirements.
Internal design timing plan and regular coordination.
Document and issue tickets for identified issues (WPD’s)
Provide input to system engineers for Gate Reviews
Follow the Project Structure Plan (PSP) and all defined company processes
