Job Title: Localization Specialist (Chinese to English) – Contractor
Location: Remote (Global)

Key Responsibilities
Translation:
Translate in-game text, marketing materials, and documentation from Chinese to English when required, adhering to project glossaries and style guides.
Expected output: Translate 3-4k Chinese characters per day while maintaining quality standards.
Proofreading:
Review, refine, and polish translated game content (dialogue, UI, item descriptions, tutorials, etc.) to ensure grammatical accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness for English-speaking players.
Verify consistency in terminology, tone, and style across all localized content.
Identify and resolve ambiguities, mistranslations, or cultural misalignments in source or target text.
Expected output: Proofread approximately 6-8k Chinese characters per day (depending on content) with meticulous attention to detail.
Collaboration & Quality Assurance:
Work closely with the in-house localization team to ensure localized content aligns with gameplay mechanics, narrative intent, and player expectations.
Flag culturally sensitive topics (e.g., slang, humor, historical/political references) that may require adaptation for English-speaking markets.
Use CAT tools to maintain translation memories, glossaries, and ensure efficiency.

Qualifications
Language Proficiency:
Either:
Native English speaker with advanced Chinese proficiency (HSK6 or equivalent level).
OR
Native Chinese speaker with advanced English proficiency IELTS 8.5-9.0 (CEFR C2 or equivalent level).
Experience:
2+ years in game localization, including proven experience in translating and proofreading Chinese-to-English content.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAT tools
Cultural Sensitivity:
Deep awareness of cultural norms, sensitivities, and trends in English-speaking markets (e.g., US, UK, AU).
Ability to adapt content to avoid misunderstandings or offense (e.g., gender inclusivity, regional slang).
Work Style:
Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a remote, asynchronous environment.
Gaming Passion:
Avid gamer with familiarity across genres (RPGs, action, mobile, etc.) and deep understanding of gaming terminology.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience playing miHoYo titles (e.g., Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, etc.).
General interest in the following: ACG (Anime, Comics, Games) culture and linguistic/creative trends, sci-fi/fantasy literature/media/games, history/mythology.
Language-based background in linguistics, creative writing, or other associated fields.
Knowledge of localization processes and workflows.
