Qihan Bio is a biotech startup based in Hangzhou, China, founded by world-renowned gene-editing pioneers Dr. Luhan Yang and Dr. George Church. At Qihan, we strive to deliver safe human transplantable tissues and organs for the millions of patients in need of organ transplantation.
In China alone, there are millions of patients waiting for a new organ, but unfortunately, only thousands of transplants are performed each year. At Qihan, we aim to solve this problem by genetically modifying pig organs to make them compatible for human transplantation. We closely collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and drug discovery teams in the US and in China to make great science. Our sister company, eGenesis, is located in Boston and works alongside Harvard Medical School. In 2017, our founding team broke gene-editing records and created our first gen-eration of pigs - becoming the groundbreaking publication featured on the cover of Science mag-azine.
