As a Lens Shaping Development Engineer / Scientist at Zeiss, you will play a key role in developing edging processes for the final shaping of ophthalmic lenses and AR/VR devices. You will build a solid understanding of optics, lens design, and manufacturing processes, and help define and align the product quality measures that guide process development.

主要职责 Main Task
1. Process and Technology Development for ophthalmic lenses for AR/VR solution. Understand and use required measurement systems and instruments to evaluate products.
2. Ability to process lenses through blocking, milling, turning, grinding and polishing processes for the production of test lenses. Improve existing processes running in operations to improve overall yields.
3. Conduct research to understand the interaction between material properties, machine and process parameters.
4. Execute agreed projects as well as development of own initiatives relevant to above areas.
5. Support the introduction and transfer of new technology into CZV operations
6. Occasionally provide technical support to production and quality on edging related technology issues.
7. Test the capability of new technology for the machining / edging of ophthalmic or AR/VR lenses.
8. Develop an understanding of product quality measures, tolerances and standards related to the areas above.
9. Understand and apply appropriate systematic design, process development and project planning tools.

Engineering or Mechatronics
工作经验/经历 Work Experience
> 1 years working experience
专业知识/技能 Knowledge And Skill
Degree in Engineering or Mechatronics with a focus on machining or a degree in Science with focus on materials research or optics.
Programming experience with VBA, Matlab / Python would be highly desirable, however other languages also regarded. Experience in CNC machining would be well regarded however graduates with a high interest in this area will also be considered.
Overview of tactile and optical production metrology.
Ability or knowledge of CAD packages with at least a basic level of usage.
Desire to pursue a path as technical expert in the medium term, approx 5 years.
Enthusiasm for balance of hands on and theoretical work
Equal ability to work effectively as an individual on one’s own initiative or as part of a team in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinarily environment.
Good English communication skills both written and verbal.
Project Management Skills would be desirable
