Main tasks & key responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers
• Manage the design and development of alternative maritime power systems and components in accordance with customer specifications.
• Responsible for the completion of 3D models, assemblies, and detailed production drawings, including Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Manage the distribution of workloads, assignment of projects, and evaluation of team performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including GPS, Sales, Service, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Global Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in Italy and India—to ensure alignment and project success.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives and integrate innovative features into shore power products to enhance functionality and efficiency
• Update existing designs, components, and subsystems to enhance manufacturability, performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality engineering deliverables with a strong focus on 'first-time-right' execution
• Responsible for performing machine design calculations, conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and developing or updating design matrices
• Maintain and consistently meet Engineering KPIs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering degree with 15 yrs. of experience in Machine design field.
• Minimum 5 yrs of experience as leading team
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, specializing in the design and development of systems, subsystems, and components for heavy machinery and industrial equipment.
• Practical expertise in implementing cost reduction strategies for machinery and industrial equipment.
• Proven track record of successfully integrating new features into machines and industrial equipment.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks, ensuring high-quality design and modelling.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing drawings and production processes, ensuring seamless production and assembly.
• Exceptional skills in mechanical design calculations, delivering accurate and reliable results.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
