Technical Skills and Knowledge - Networking
1. Core Networking Fundamentals
understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP models.
Network services administration: DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP/SFTP.
IP Addressing and Subnetting (IPv4 and basic understanding of IPv6).
Understanding of LAN, WAN, and WLAN architectures.
2. Routing & Switching
Configuration and troubleshooting of VLANs, Trunks (802.1Q), and STP (Spanning Tree Protocol).
Link aggregation: LACP / EtherChannel.
Basic knowledge of dynamic routing protocols: OSPF, BGP. (desirable)
Implementation of Static Routing.
Understanding of QoS (Quality of Service) fundamentals for traffic prioritization (desirable)
3. Network Security & Firewalls
Firewall administration: configuring Security Policies, NAT,
Deployment and support of VPNs (IPsec, SSL/TLS, Site-to-Site, and Client-to-Site).
Knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) and 802.1X authentication.
Basic understanding of threat mitigation and network best practices.
4. Wireless Networking (Wi-Fi)
Creation and management of wireless profiles and SSIDs.
Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) fundamentals and spectrum analysis.
Experience with Site Surveys and coverage optimization.
Wireless security protocols (WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise).
5. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Familiarity with packet sniffing and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump).
Experience with network monitoring platforms (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix).
Proficiency in CLI troubleshooting commands (ping, traceroute, nslookup, netstat).
Experience documenting network topologies and managing support tickets (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
6. Vendor Ecosystems & Equipment
Routing & Switching: Cisco, Juniper.
Wireless: Juniper Mist, Aruba (HPE), Cisco Meraki.
Firewalls: Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks,
Hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, Linux)
Client operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android)
Monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana, Zabbix)
MDM and deployment tools(Intune, WS1, SCCM)
Cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom)
Information security (antivirus, antimalware, firewalls, IDS, EDR)
Electronic Security:
VMS and IP CCTV architectures (ONVIF/RTSP, camera health, retention and storage sizing, multicast considerations, NTP/time sync)
Access Control platforms and RBAC/governance (badge lifecycle, JML integration, audit logs)
Dedicated security network design (segmentation/VLANs, PoE/UPS, out-of-band management, secure remote access)
Hardening and compliance (secure baselines, firmware and credential management, log forwarding/SIEM integration, privacy-by-design)
Desirable:
Relevant IT certifications (e.g. CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Professional, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, AWS, GCP, etc.)
Electronic Security certifications (e.g. ASIS PSP; vendor certifications such as Genetec, Milestone, LenelS2, HID; BICSI/RCDD for infrastructure)
Experience with task automation (e.g. PowerShell, Python) and API-based integrations (e.g. VMS/Access Control to IAM/HRIS/SIEM)
Scripting knowledge

Previous experience in the facilities sector
Experience leading IT or Electronic Security teams or departments
